nice little bloggy

Just when I'm pissed off, somebody goes and takes me to the freaking art gallery.

psssh! Now I'm supposed to NOT be pissed at the world! grrr!
Ok, seriously here, I really enjoyed the art gallery this evening.
Thunder Bay highschool art was on display - it was impressive. Beyond their apparent mastery of the craft, they displayed strong social commentary (which I always like).

There was one particular piece which held my gaze for a while - I was almost sad to leave it. It was called "A Prayer Before the House of Ghosts" (Mariann Nicolson).
(pausing while I google the artist)

Ok, well I couldn't find the actual piece online but I found other stuff about her work
here and here.

I really enjoy the history and symmetry of aboriginal art.

It is cruel how, just as you get good and mad at the world, someone does something nice... It really ruins a prefectly good rant!

Haaken has been asking to go to the Art Gallery for some time - so perhaps I'll have to take him to see the local work.

Hope it was a f'n good time!

Well said Erica!

My favorite painting ever sits in the AGO and is a group of 7 but not like any of the others...I will have to ask Tim the name and then I will come back and tell you. Actually it might really be something for you to see right now. I just stood there and cried when I saw it.

I like the painting where there are those footsteps going down the beach, and there's that nice poem about Jesus carrying me when there was only one set of footprints.

*HEY YOU! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY KEYBOARD!*

Okay, the real Warren is back now.

I think my current fave painting is the black velvet landscape which hangs in my normal living room above my talking Gollum.

Hey Ultra-Warren, I snorted at work while attempting to hold in my laughter at your comments,..then I had to cough a few times to cover up the snort.

So Richard, does talking-Gollum tell you he's going to poke your eye-zes out? Is this kind of like the talking dog in that Spike Lee movie,..the one about the guy who says the dog tells him to do things? bad things?...should we be scared? I mean, you did tack "HS" on to your comment about TU's fave painting,...

Warren I enjoyed watching those clowns. I went there off a different friends blog (probably around the same day this was posted).

I don't know that my Gollum says that exact sentence, but, yes similar things. He also has "Smeagol" sayings, which are nicer.

Re. Men in Coats. Now, if the Midget Skit was done that well at camp, I wouldn't be sick of it!

Not that I let on, because I recognize the campers' good intentions.

Oops I've just said this to the whole WWW and so I guess I've just let on.
